This past Sunday (9/18) we read the second story in Lesson 1, introduced new characters and vocabulary on page 8, introduced the comma and period, and told a story called "Don't Copy Me!" I think the kids liked the story. We also used the flashcard book that comes with the textbook to tear out and go over this week's flashcards. I decided to skip the story at the end of Lesson 1 ("Punctuation is really important!"), partly because time is tight at the start of the school year, and also because the story seemed pretty dull. The end-of-chapter stories for the other chapters are much better, so we will read those in future lessons.

Next week's homework is pages 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 (NOT 12 and 13). I also asked the children to review their Lesson 1 flashcards.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone after class next week for our parent-teacher meeting.
